2018 Sailing Calendar

Why Falmouth for Sailing Events?

We believe that Cornwall hosts some of the finest maritime events for traditional boats, classic yachts and tall ships in Britain.

When it comes to creating a spectacle of sails, refined wooden craftsmanship and sparring bowsprits, then Falmouth is absolutely the place to be; with the Cornish South Coast boasting numerous sheltered bays and deep water harbours. All unhindered by ferries or cargo traffic.

The coastal landscape is timeless and the historic port of Falmouth is unspoilt by modern development, making both the perfect backdrop to celebrate maritime traditions.

Many notable Cornish harbours are big enough to hold major racing events, making them natural amphitheatres for shore side spectators to watch the action and Falmouth is no exception.

Falmouth Bay and Carrick Roads both have a long tradition of racing working boats, like Falmouth oyster boats, gig boats, pilot cutters and luggers and have the finest skills anywhere to put on a show of canvas and sail, right into the heart of the harbour.

The cruise season is looking healthy for Falmouth port this year with 31 vessels stemmed.  If you’d like further information on which vessels will be visiting Falmouth in 2018, please click here.
